Things You Can Do:

Physical:  Jumps; runs; kicks a ball; walks up/down stairs - Encourage your child to play in a safe area
Hand Skills:  Turns pages one at a time; can help dress/undress; turns doorknobs and unscrews lids; can feed themselves - Let your child looks at books and magazines.
- Hang full length mirror (child size)
- Teach to dress self (no rushing)
- Praise good feeding skills
Language: Speaks in short sentences; labels objects in books; uses many new words; able to express needs; relies less on gestures - Listen and talk with your child. 
- Point to pictures; ask them to tell you about them
- Don’t rush your child when they are speaking
- Answer their questions simply and honestly
Cognition / Understanding: Pays attention longer; knows some colors; points to 5 body parts; can say first first name - Read simple stories
- Let your child use paints, crayons
- Match objects / colors
- Identify body parts/common objects
Self Help: Asks to use the toilet during the day - Praise for toilet use
- Use training pants (during day)
- Remind to use toilet
Social: Plays interactively with other children for short periods of time, with little sharing of toys - Provide time for your child to play with other children
